Overview

Support the development, testing, and maintenance of operational river forecasting systems, with emphasis on Delft-FEWS configuration. You will join the Forecasting and River Operations team, working on domestic and international projects for water management agencies and hydropower utilities. The role integrates hydrologic, hydraulic, and reservoir models into decision-support tools used for real-time water management. You will collaborate with engineers, hydrologists, and software developers to deliver science-based solutions. This position offers growth into technical task leadership and project management.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Configure Delft-FEWS workflows for data ingestion, quality control, model execution, and visualization.
  • 2Integrate HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-ResSim, and reservoir models into forecasting systems.
  • 3Process and summarize hydrometeorological data, including observed streamflow, precipitation, and gridded products.
  • 4Develop Python and SQL scripts to automate data processing, modeling, and reporting tasks.
  • 5Calibrate and verify hydrologic models, comparing forecasts against observations.
  • 6Test reservoir operations logic and scenario evaluation within forecasting workflows.
  • 7Troubleshoot model, data, and workflow issues in collaboration with project teams.
  • 8Document methods, user guidance, and training materials for clients and internal use.
  • 9Participate in client meetings and technical discussions, presenting findings clearly.

Requirements8

  • 1Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology, or related field with 1+ year relevant experience.
  • 2Coursework in hydrology, hydraulics, or water resources engineering.
  • 3Experience with Python, R, MATLAB, or SQL for data analysis.
  • 4Ability to process and interpret technical data accurately.
  • 5Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 6Attention to detail and willingness to test and troubleshoot technical work.
  • 7Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • 8Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
