What You'll Do7

  • 1Direct the patient flow in the hospital, coordinating with the veterinarian and vet techs to keep exams and treatments on schedule.
  • 2Set up and carry out procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance, from blood draws to medication administration.
  • 3Maintain clean, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs, adhering to hospital safety standards.
  • 4Educate clients on Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care, turning every visit into a teachable moment.
  • 5Mentor new team members on hospital protocols and veterinary assistant best practices.
  • 6Champion the Five Principles - Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, Freedom - in every interaction.
  • 7Communicate patient status and concerns clearly to the medical team, keeping everyone informed.

Requirements8

  • 1Certificate from a NAVT A-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • 2High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 31+ years of hands-on experience in a veterinary setting, with proficiency in all NAVTA-required skills.
  • 4Proven ability to perform patient restraint, blood draws, and laboratory procedures safely.
  • 5Ability to lift 40+ pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • 6Current CPR and First Aid certification for pets (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
  • 7Comfort with digital recordkeeping and hospital software such as ePet Health.
  • 8Positive attitude and commitment to the Five Principles.
