UX Product Designer (Networking) | HPE
Overview
You will own a defined product area within HPE's networking division, designing AI-augmented experiences for IT operators. You'll pair solid design craft with AI-driven research and vibe design workflows, guiding AI agents to generate production-ready UI and pouring your craft into the 10% that feels magical. Working closely with PMs and engineers, you'll turn billions of telemetry data points into clear, trustworthy, and delightful experiences. This hybrid role is based in Cupertino, CA, with 2 days onsite per week.
What You'll Do9
- 1Frame user problems and align your team on clear problem statements grounded in research and data.
- 2Run AI-scaled qualitative research using tools like User Intuition, Listen Labs, and Perspective AI to automate recruiting and probe why across hundreds of users.
- 3Synthesize unstructured data from support calls and transcripts into converged insight using AI thematic clustering with Dovetail or Enterpret.
- 4Use AI-native analytics like Fullstory and Mixpanel to diagnose behavior and connect findings to design choices.
- 5Build high-fidelity prototypes with motion and transitions, increasingly in working front-end code by guiding AI agents in VS Code, Claude Design, or Lovable.
- 6Contribute components and patterns to the design system as a UI toolbox that AI agents can reliably assemble from.
- 7Define subjective rubrics for experience quality and partner on golden datasets to scale evaluation with LLM-as-a-Judge.
- 8Communicate design decisions with clear narratives, maintain a transparent process, and follow through post-launch with bug bashes.
- 9Prioritize work based on business impact and propose improvements to lift your work's impact.
Requirements9
- 12+ years of product design experience with a portfolio showing breadth of exploration and trade-offs.
- 2Strong foundations in visual design, interaction design, and design systems.
- 3Hands-on fluency (or fast learning) with at least one AI design-to-code tool like VS Code, Claude Design, Lovable, v0, or Cursor.
- 4Hands-on fluency with one AI research or analytics tool like Dovetail, Perspective AI, Fullstory, or Mixpanel.
- 5Comfort working with data: read funnels, question metrics, and let evidence guide decisions.
- 6A builder's temperament: bias toward working prototypes over static specs and curiosity when tools break.
- 7Nice to have: experience designing for AI/agentic products like chatbots or copilots.
- 8Nice to have: exposure to evaluation practices for AI systems (rubrics, golden datasets, LLM-as-a-Judge).
- 9Nice to have: familiarity with front-end fundamentals like React, Tailwind, and component architecture.
