Overview

This is a remote, hourly contract role for an experienced UI/UX designer. Instead of building products, you'll be assessing how well AI can perform real design tasks. You'll create scoring rubrics for things like design systems, dashboards, and user flows, then grade AI-generated and human work with detailed written feedback. It's a great fit for designers who enjoy design critique, quality standards, and working with AI-focused research teams.

What You'll Do4

  • 1Develop clear, task-specific rubrics for evaluating digital product and UX deliverables, such as component libraries, responsive layouts, dashboards, onboarding flows, checkout experiences, customer portals, UX copy, and design-to-development handoff.
  • 2Review and score both AI-produced and human-made design samples against these rubrics, providing thorough written explanations for each rating.
  • 3Maintain consistent, evidence-based scoring so results are reproducible and defensible.
  • 4Incorporate feedback from senior reviewers and refine your approach quickly.

Requirements6

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience designing real digital products, including UI/UX, product design, or design systems (not just brand or marketing sites).
  • 2A background at top UX studios, in-house product teams at major tech companies, or e-commerce and marketplace firms with complex dashboards and customer portals.
  • 3Deep proficiency with Figma, including prototyping and production handoff, plus a strong grasp of interaction design, visual design, responsive layouts, and end-to-end product flows.
  • 4Excellent written communication skills — able to clearly explain why a piece of work meets or misses the bar for real users.
  • 5Detail-oriented, consistent, and open to having your judgment calibrated against peers.
  • 6Prior experience with AI training, evaluation, or human-data annotation is a strong plus.

Who Should Apply

The ideal candidate is a seasoned product designer or UX lead who loves design critique and has a sharp eye for quality. You're comfortable making judgment calls, writing precise feedback, and working with structured evaluation guidelines. If you've ever wished design reviews carried more weight — or you're curious about how AI handles real design challenges — this role is for you.
