Utility Scale Heavy Civil Division Manager
Overview
Lead the Heavy Civil Division at R-2 Contractors, overseeing utility-scale construction projects across the U.S. with a focus on mass earthwork, grading, and drainage systems. You will build and mentor a team of Superintendents and Foremen, driving operational excellence and customer trust. Partner with Operations and executive leadership to ensure safe, high-quality project delivery. This role requires 10+ years of Heavy Civil experience and offers a salary range of $180k - $250k.
What You'll Do10
- 1Direct all Heavy Civil operations for multiple utility-scale projects, including earthwork, grading, stormwater infrastructure, and erosion control.
- 2Build, mentor, and develop Superintendents, Foremen, and field leaders to foster a high-performing team.
- 3Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- 4Collaborate with Project Managers, Estimating, and executive leadership to align project goals and resources.
- 5Monitor production, quality, and equipment utilization to drive operational consistency.
- 6Support project planning, scheduling, and budgeting to meet deadlines and financial targets.
- 7Develop future leaders through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- 8Strengthen relationships with customers, General Contractors, and stakeholders to earn trust and repeat business.
- 9Champion continuous improvement initiatives and enforce safety as the top priority across all sites.
- 10Model R-2 Core Values and lead by example to reinforce a culture of accountability and excellence.
Requirements10
- 110+ years of Heavy Civil construction experience, including utility-scale power or renewable energy projects.
- 2Proven track record leading multiple crews and Superintendents on large-scale earthwork and grading operations.
- 3Expertise in mass grading, drainage systems, stormwater infrastructure, and erosion control.
- 4Strong knowledge of GPS machine control and production management techniques.
- 5Experience with production planning, scheduling, manpower forecasting, and resource allocation.
- 6Financial acumen with experience managing operational budgets and project performance.
- 7Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to build and develop teams.
- 8Ability to travel approximately 25% per month to project sites nationwide.
- 9Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- 10Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
