Unit Coordinator Cardiology Unit Evening Shift
Overview
You will own the daily clerical flow of the Cardiology Unit at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA, supporting a 32-bed inpatient floor during the evening shift (3pm-11:30pm). You'll manage patient charts, process physician orders in EPIC, and answer phones. You'll work alongside a collaborative team of nurses and physicians, reporting to the unit manager. This role features rotating weekends and holidays, offering a dynamic schedule for someone who thrives on variety.
What You'll Do8
- 1Prepare patient charts daily, ensuring all forms and relevant information are ready for review.
- 2Assemble charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- 3Process physician orders using EPIC and other computer systems.
- 4Use bedtracking systems to support timely patient flow.
- 5Answer phones with the Lahey greeting, taking and transmitting messages to unit staff.
- 6Respond to queries from physicians, nursing staff, and visitors, protecting confidential patient information per HIPAA.
- 7Inventory office supplies and order new ones to maintain standard levels.
- 8Store supplies neatly, following department procedures for access to non-controlled medications like IV solutions and vaccines.
Requirements5
- 1High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2Basic computer skills for recording patient information in computerized databases.
- 3Proficiency in reading comprehension, spelling, and writing.
- 4No prior experience required.
- 5Ability to work evening shift (3pm-11:30pm) and rotating weekends/holidays.
