Underground Haulage Truck Operator - Salt Mine Production | Detroit
Overview
You'll drive Underground Haulage Trucks to move salt and materials through a Detroit salt mine, owning safe and efficient transport from production areas to drop points. You'll operate additional mobile equipment and assist with basic upkeep on conveyors, crushers, and screening gear. Working with a tight team, you'll follow MSHA regulations and keep precise production records. This role stands out for its hands-on variety: you'll split time between the controls and supporting maintenance, all in a unique underground environment.
What You'll Do6
- 1Operate Underground Haul Trucks to transport salt and materials from headings to designated drop points, logging production numbers and safety observations each shift.
- 2Run additional mobile equipment as assigned to support underground operations, including cleanup and material handling.
- 3Assist with basic maintenance on conveyors, crushers, and screening equipment to keep material flowing and reduce downtime.
- 4Support the maintenance team with general tasks, from part runs to tool cleanup, to keep the operation moving.
- 5Follow MSHA regulations and site procedures at all times, from pre-check to final inspection.
- 6Maintain precise production and safety records, updating logs at end of shift for accurate tracking.
Requirements5
- 1Heavy equipment operating experience, ideally with haul trucks or similar mobile equipment.
- 2Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to pitch in on maintenance tasks.
- 3Strong safety focus and reliable judgment when working underground.
- 4Comfort working in an underground mining environment, including confined spaces and low light.
- 5Ability to perform physical work, including lifting 50+ lbs regularly.
