Forklift Operator, 2nd & 3rd Shift - Morton Salt
Overview
You will operate powered industrial forklifts and manage bagging, stacking, and salt room operations at a Morton Salt production facility in Philadelphia. This role drives material transfer across shipping and receiving, ensuring accurate loads and safe workflows. You will work alongside a dedicated team in a unionized environment, with shifts from 2 pm to 10 pm or 10 pm to 6 am. Forklift experience and 2-5 years in production packaging set you apart, while PPE training and safety protocols keep the floor secure.
What You'll Do9
- 1Load and unload materials from van trucks, flatbeds, pneumatic trucks, and dump trucks using forklifts and loading stations.
- 2Pull orders from shipping documentation and recheck loaded product accuracy with scanning equipment.
- 3Sign and submit shipping documents, preparing receiving reports for the S/R group leader.
- 4Weigh materials and record weights on tags, labels, or production schedules.
- 5Restack damaged pallets and inventory materials in the yard or warehouse, following company procedures.
- 6Stock products in blocks according to company guidelines and complete all operating records.
- 7Observe Federal, State, and Company safety regulations, including GMP standards.
- 8Maintain clean work areas, report damage and spillage immediately, and replace bad bags before shipment.
- 9Work different stations as production needs require, including overtime as necessary.
Requirements8
- 1High School diploma or equivalent.
- 22-5 years operating in a production packaging environment.
- 3Prior forklift use preferred, with industrial environment experience.
- 4Ability to operate safely and maintain good housekeeping.
- 5Willingness to wear PPE, including hard hats, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hi-visibility apparel, and gloves.
- 6Capability to work in varying temperatures and humidity, with noise and dust.
- 7Ability to perform tasks around moving machinery and energized power cables.
- 8Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, and move about the facility; able to pull, push, and lift 50 lbs.
