Overview
You will perform diagnostic ultrasound exams at MarinHealth Medical Center, a 327-bed hospital and top-rated facility. Operating with two RDMS certifications, you will execute abdominal, OB/GYN, and pediatric scans, collaborating with radiologists and supporting invasive procedures. What You'll Do10
- 1Review patient medical history and integrate with ultrasound exams to ensure accurate diagnosis.
- 2Perform all sonographic examinations per department protocol, including Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Pediatric scans.
- 3Select and adjust ultrasound equipment to optimize image quality, using proper patient ID and annotation.
- 4Send results to radiologists and discuss findings for optimal interpretation.
- 5Assist radiologists with invasive procedures, applying sterile technique and universal precautions.
- 6Explain exams to patients, positioning them for best results and ensuring comfort and safety.
- 7Troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, reporting failures and maintaining repair logs.
- 8Prioritize and schedule exams for maximum productivity, integrating emergency cases effectively.
- 9Use the hospital information system for patient processing and maintain clean equipment and work areas.
- 10Participate in continuing education to sustain RDMS certifications and comply with accreditation standards.
Requirements9
- 12+ years full-time paid ultrasound tech experience in an acute care facility.
- 2Two RDMS board certifications: Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Pediatric.
- 3BLS certification required at hire.
- 4IAMTAC certification within 30 days of hire.
- 5Technical ability to perform all diagnostic ultrasound exams per department policy.
- 6Effective communication with patients, staff, and physicians under stress.
- 7Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and implement alternative methods.
- 8Ability to work variable shifts and handle emergency situations.
- 9High school diploma or equivalent preferred; A.S. degree desirable.
