IR/Cat/EP Technician Job at MarinHealth | Cardiac Cath Lab
Overview
You will own technical support for diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, serving a 327-bed hospital with an academic affiliation to UCSF Health. You will work independently with minimal supervision, assisting the procedural cardiologist and collaborating with CCL registered nurses, each within their licensure. This role stands out because it balances independent work with direct involvement in complex procedures like balloon angioplasty, stent placements, and Y90 treatments.
What You'll Do9
- 1Set up sterile fields and assemble supplies for each case, demonstrating aseptic technique.
- 2Assist the procedural cardiologist during diagnostic procedures as outlined in the Department Procedure Manual.
- 3Support complex interventional procedures including chemo embolizations, vascular embolizations, kyphoplasties, and cryoablations.
- 4Troubleshoot imaging equipment including ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and CT to identify and communicate malfunctions and assist service personnel.
- 5Manage supplies cost-consciously while maintaining current department procedures.
- 6Employ special techniques for patients in restraints, ensuring safety and dignity.
- 7Maintain competencies through ongoing education with organizations like ARRT.
- 8Contribute to special projects in the Interventional Department as requested by the Manager or Director.
- 9Work with highly confidential patient information, adhering to HIPAA standards.
Requirements10
- 12+ years experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory required; some complex interventional procedure experience preferred.
- 2CRT (Radiologic Technologist) required at hire.
- 3RHF (Radiology Fluoroscopy) required at hire.
- 4ARRT (American Register of Rad Techs) required at hire.
- 5BLS (Basic Life Support) required at hire.
- 6IAMTAC (Integrative Agitation Management) within 30 days of hire.
- 7High school graduate or equivalent; completion of formal radiological technology training in an AMA approved school or B.A./A.A. in radiological technology.
- 8Technical ability to perform all diagnostic procedures per Department Procedure Manual, with extensive knowledge of radiographic coronary anatomy and physiology.
- 9Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and work with minimal supervision.
- 10Effective communication and tact with patients, physicians, and hospital personnel, especially with emotionally stressed patients.
