- 4Build issue matrices connect policy language legal theory witness documents motions evidence
- 5Identify inconsistencies unexplained delays missing inspections unsupported conclusions evidence favoring coverage
- 6Compare insurer estimates with multiple contractor restoration engineering public-adjuster insured estimates
- 7Track payments by coverage category dwelling contents additional living expenses debris removal code upgrades mitigation environmental testing
- 8Assist damages summaries demonstrative timelines determine reasonableness of investigations
- 9Maintain clean searchable OCR-enabled document database
- 10Draft attorney-directed discovery documents organize interrogatories requests for production depositions notices subpoenas third-party requests
- 11Prepare deposition exhibits witness-specific collections summarize testimony create impeachment indexes
- 12Preserve discovery misconduct records maintain status matrix for all requests responses motions
- 13Develop MSJ/MSA arguments build evidentiary records link facts to declarations depositions discovery responses
- 14Verify citations organize exhibits binders compile authorities support arguments
- 15Assist motions to compel protective orders sanctions motions motions in limine opposition evidentiary objections trial briefs ex parte applications
- 16Conduct legal research using Westlaw Lexis or comparable platforms
Requirements11
- 17+ years substantive litigation experience handling first-party insurance breach-of-contract bad-faith claims
- 2Expertise in California civil discovery procedures
- 3Proven ability to lead complex discovery efforts including subpoenas depositions third-party requests
- 4Strong analytical skills to identify evidentiary gaps inconsistencies and missing documentation
- 5Experience preparing sophisticated attorney-directed discovery documents
- 6Familiarity with California tort law insurance claim handling processes
- 7Ability to develop comprehensive claim chronologies and issue matrices
- 8Knowledge of insurance policy interpretation contract law claim remedies
- 9Skills in maintaining organized electronically searchable document systems
- 10Experience with summary judgment motions and evidentiary record building
- 11Understanding of procedural rules governing motions protective orders sanctions and discovery
