Overview

Own end-to-end patient care in the PCU within a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting for a 16-week contract with weekly pay. You’ll float to ICU and inpatient units as needed and complete Epic training during onboarding. Work a 3x12-hour night shift with a comprehensive orientation and credentialing completed within days of offer. This role is distinguished by its focus on PCU care, cross-unit flexibility, and structured onboarding.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build nursing plans of care for PCU patients based on assessments and orders
  • 2Monitor patient status and administer medications while ensuring safety and compliance
  • 3Manage BiPAP and other ventilatory support as part of respiratory care
  • 4Support chest tube and PICC line care following unit protocols
  • 5Draw labs and collect specimens per physician orders and complete routine tasks
  • 6Float to ICU and other inpatient units when needed and call consults independently
  • 7Communicate clearly with physicians, families, and care team and participate in code events when required
  • 8Document care activities in Epic and adhere to safety standards
  • 9Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient transitions
  • 10Demonstrate responsiveness to changing patient needs within 90 days

Requirements7

  • 1Active KS RN license or Compact RN license
  • 2BLS, ACLS, and NIHF as required
  • 3Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience
  • 4Experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and lab draws
  • 5Comfort with floating to ICU and inpatient units and ability to work independently
  • 6Open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 experience with pacer wires preferred
  • 7Credentialing requirements: CBC, DS, and lab work completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance
