Travel NICU RN, Level III Neonatal ICU - Columbus, OH
Overview
As a Travel RN in the Level III NICU, you will own direct care for neonates from 22 weeks gestation, including the most fragile infants under 24-28 weeks. You will manage ventilators, arterial lines, and vasoactive drips while documenting in EPIC and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team. This 13-week contract in Columbus offers 3x12 day shifts and a 1:2-3 ratio, distinguishing itself with support for local travelers and rapid onboarding.
What You'll Do9
- 1Provide Level III NICU care for neonates from 22 weeks gestation, including infants under 24-28 weeks, addressing respiratory distress, glucose management, and surgical or cardiac needs.
- 2Manage ventilator settings across AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP modes, adjusting as needed for patient stability.
- 3Perform arterial line management, central line care, and UAC/UVC catheter maintenance per protocol.
- 4Administer IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids using the Pyxis medication system.
- 5Document all patient assessments and interventions in EPIC with precision, ensuring continuity of care.
- 6Communicate using the SBAR handoff method with the care team and families, clarifying updates and plans.
- 7Implement interventions for neonatal abstinence syndrome and manage feeding methods including oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tube placement.
- 8Collaborate with NPs, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, radiology, and social services to coordinate holistic care.
- 9Maintain a safe environment through strict infection control and isolation precautions, including PPE use.
Requirements8
- 1Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
- 2Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
- 3Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required.
- 4Experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU setting required.
- 5Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management required.
- 6Proficiency in infection control measures, isolation precautions, and PPE use required.
- 7Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.
- 82 professional references required, 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role, and 1 from a Charge RN (no coworker references).
