Overview
You will own the full diagnostic and rebuild cycle for automatic transmissions, from initial fault analysis to final dyno validation. You will work with Automatic Transmissions, Drivetrain Systems, and Powertrain Components in a shop that handles both repair and performance builds. The team is tight-knit, with 5+ years average tenure and a focus on shared knowledge. What You'll Do7
- 1Perform thorough diagnostics on automatic transmissions using OBD-II scanners and pressure gauges to isolate failures.
- 2Repair and rebuild automatic transmissions, including valve bodies, torque converters, and clutch packs, for 6L80 and similar models.
- 3Use hand tools and power tools to execute efficient disassembly and reassembly, tracking all torque specs.
- 4Interpret schematics and technical manuals to diagnose complex electrical and hydraulic issues in TCM and ECU systems.
- 5Communicate repair needs and recommendations to customers, turning technical findings into clear action plans.
- 6Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety protocols to meet shop standards.
- 7Collaborate with team members to streamline the flow from diagnosis to test drive, cutting turnaround time by 20%.
Requirements6
- 13+ years as a Transmission Technician or Mechanic, with proven Automatic Transmission rebuild experience.
- 2Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and vehicle maintenance practices.
- 3Familiarity with Diesel Engine repair and Powertrain systems is a plus.
- 4Experience with alignment procedures and auto body repair is a plus.
- 5Knowledge of automotive diagrams and troubleshooting techniques.
- 66L80 rebuild experience shared in application.
Salary Insight
