Tower Technician III, Wireless & Telecom Construction
Overview
You will install, maintain, and operate wireless, fiber optic, and microwave telecom equipment across Houston, Texas. Own every climb, from tower erection to antenna alignment, on new build and existing sites. What You'll Do8
- 1Climb towers and ladders at heights up to 500 feet to install antennas, transmission lines, and waveguides within the first 90 days.
- 2Erect self-support towers, guyed towers, and monopoles using cranes, helicopters, and gin poles.
- 3Install microwave parabolic antennas from 1 to 15 feet, plus VHF, UHF, cellular, and FM broadcast antennas.
- 4Run coaxial and hardline transmission lines, ensuring proper grounding and electrical connections.
- 5Prepare and clean sites, offload materials, and maintain inventory to keep projects on schedule.
- 6Assist in electrical foundations, grounding, and conduit installation per project specs.
- 7Serve as a mentor to less experienced technicians, modeling safe work practices and quality standards.
- 8Follow MasTec and OSHA safety policies, including NATE CTS and ANSI guidelines, on every job.
Requirements8
- 14+ years of tower climbing and installation experience with a high school diploma.
- 2Ability to climb towers, lift 50 lbs regularly, and work up to 12 hours in varied weather.
- 3Working knowledge of OSHA, TIA10-48, NATE CTS, and ANSI safety standards.
- 4Valid driver’s license with a clean record meeting company policy.
- 5Experience erecting self-support, guyed, and monopole towers preferred.
- 6Hands-on ability to install microwave, VHF, UHF, and cellular antennas.
- 7Capable of reading and following technical instructions and prints.
- 8NWSA certification is a plus.
