Overview
Join Leupold & Stevens as a Tool and Die Maker 3 in our Portland Oregon facility. This role supports our legacy of manufacturing innovation by designing and fabricating complex tooling. What You'll Do18
- 1Design and develop tools to support product manufacturing and assembly
- 2Analyze specifications and set up operate machine tools for fabrication
- 3Fabricate metalworking dies cutting tools jigs fixtures and gages
- 4Troubleshoot problems and initiate corrective actions
- 5Manage projects and maintain schedules
- 6Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools lathe milling machine and grinder
- 7Determine machining requirements and verify part conformance
- 8Work from blueprints sketches models and verbal descriptions to build tools
- 9Compute dimensions plan layouts and assembly operations
- 10Measure mark scribe metal stock and plumb pneumatic components
- 11Maintain gauging database schedule vendor calibrations and create procedures
- 12Participate in performance specification development with tool engineers
- 13Effectively troubleshoot tool and die problems and investigate root causes
- 14Identify and implement preventative maintenance on equipment
- 15Stay informed on state-of-the-art technologies and participate in R&D
- 16Lead/manage project teams and monitor milestones
- 17Train and mentor new employees or apprentices
- 18Perform backup lead duties as assigned
Requirements11
- 1High school education or equivalent plus two years trade school training and ten or more years related experience
- 2Ten or more years specific tool and die making experience required
- 3Expert level knowledge of tool and die making practices designs and construction
- 4Technical expertise in specialized areas such as gauge making millwright or other mechanical specialties
- 5Thorough understanding of shop mathematics GD&T and metal properties
- 6Ability to interpret technical blueprints models and specifications
- 7Proficiency with hand and power tools and CAM software
- 8Strong leadership communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- 9Physical capability to stand sit lift up to fifty pounds with assistance
- 10Good manual dexterity fine motor skills and visual acuity
- 11Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
