Thrift Store Associate, Part-Time
Overview
As a Thrift Store Associate, you will own the customer experience at Switchpoint's Tooele location, processing sales and helping shoppers find treasures. You will join a team of 10-15 in a mission-driven nonprofit, reporting to the store manager. This role offers variety: from POS transactions to donation processing and visual merchandising. You will directly support the fight against homelessness with every shift.
What You'll Do7
- 1Greet every customer with a smile and provide kind, professional service that turns first-time visitors into regulars.
- 2Operate the cash register and handle cash and credit card transactions with 100% accuracy.
- 3Sort, price, and display donated goods based on thrift market value to maximize sales and turnover.
- 4Maintain a spotless, safe sales floor and backroom, following OSHA lifting and ergonomic guidelines to prevent injuries.
- 5Support opening and closing procedures, including bank deposits and end-of-day reporting.
- 6Assist with donation intake, vendor pickups, and truck/trailer loading when needed, holding a clean driving record.
- 7Collaborate with teammates to restock shelves and rotate seasonal inventory, keeping the store fresh and shoppable.
Requirements9
- 11+ year of retail, thrift, or cash handling experience preferred.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 8+ hours.
- 4Comfortable operating POS systems and handling cash accurately.
- 5Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate store vehicles.
- 6Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus (not required).
- 7Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- 8Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- 9Commitment to the mission of ending homelessness.
