Terminal Operations Technician, NGL Storage & Distribution
Overview
You will own daily operations at a NGL storage and distribution terminal in Houston, Texas, and step into the fractionator when needed. You'll monitor process conditions, run inspections, and execute startups and shutdowns across LPG systems. You'll work alongside a small crew of operators and engineers, tackling process issues in real time. This role puts you at the center of Targa Resources' midstream network, where safe, reliable output drives the business. You'll gain exposure to fractionation and terminal automation, a path for growth into senior operator roles.
What You'll Do8
- 1Run daily terminal operations for NGL storage and distribution, monitoring SCADA alerts and adjusting flows to hold product specs.
- 2Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, and loading arms, using CMMS to log work and order parts.
- 3Write lock-out/tag-out permits and hot work permits for maintenance crews, ensuring zero incidents during repairs.
- 4Lead startup and shutdown sequences for fractionation columns, coordinating with board operators to stabilize process.
- 5Inspect tank farms and pipeline connections for leaks or corrosion, filing SAP notifications to keep assets compliant.
- 6Train new operators on terminal safety protocols and emergency response drills, reinforcing a safety-first culture.
- 7Respond to call-outs for pipeline upsets or weather events, restoring service within 30 minutes of notification.
- 8Optimize product blending and inventory accuracy by reconciling meter readings against LACT data.
Requirements9
- 11-5 years in NGL, refinery, or petrochemical operations.
- 2High school diploma or GED, plus a valid driver's license.
- 3Process Safety knowledge: P&ID reading, HAZOP familiarity, and OSHA standards.
- 4Current TWIC card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- 5Experience with SCADA and PLC troubleshooting in terminal or plant environments.
- 6Forklift and aerial lift certification, or willingness to get certified.
- 7Proven ability to lift 50 pounds and work in cramped spaces like tank interiors.
- 8Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak seasons.
- 9Self-starter who thrives on minimal supervision and owns shift outcomes.
