Teen Support Specialist, Weekend Youth Advocate
Overview
You will support homeless teens ages 16-18 at our 24/7 Teen Living Center, fostering a safe and supportive community. You will provide direct care, life skills coaching, and ensure a structured environment. You will work alongside a dedicated team in a mission-driven non-profit. What You'll Do9
- 1Actively listen to teens' needs and respond appropriately, implementing Switchpoint's mission and policies.
- 2Assist with meal preparation, homework, and overseeing chores to maintain daily structure.
- 3Maintain detailed daily logs of teens' activities, incidents, and concerns.
- 4Communicate concerns about teens to management promptly and accurately.
- 5Complete necessary paperwork and documentation timely and accurately.
- 6Participate in staff meetings, shift reports, and training sessions.
- 7Provide life skills support: budgeting, cooking, cleaning, calendaring, goal setting, time management, and healthy relationships.
- 8Maintain a clean and organized home environment, conducting regular bag and room checks for safety.
- 9Update maintenance log with requests and ensure facility upkeep.
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2Must be at least 21 years old.
- 3Set strong boundaries, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion.
- 4Experience working with youth, preferably in a social services or residential setting.
- 5Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- 6Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- 7Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- 8Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- 9Commitment to drug and alcohol-free house policies.
