Overview

The Technical Writer Journeyman will own the creation review and maintenance of clear accurate user friendly documentation at scale for a government agency. The role supports operations business processes and communications and collaborates with subject matter experts and program staff. You’ll work with a cross functional team to ensure content is compliant with agency standards accessible polished and consistently formatted.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and update website content ensuring accuracy accessibility and alignment with branding
  • 2Draft revise and maintain announcements newsletters guidance documents and other communications
  • 3Edit proofread and polish materials for grammar punctuation clarity and tone
  • 4Review and standardize Standard Operating Procedures and operational documentation
  • 5Format documents reports manuals presentations and correspondence for distribution
  • 6Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical information into audience appropriate content
  • 7Ensure all documents comply with agency style guides control procedures and policies
  • 8Maintain document version control and organize agency documentation
  • 9Recommend improvements to documentation processes templates and writing standards
  • 10Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor’s degree in English Technical Writing Communications Journalism Public Administration or related field
  • 21 to 6 years of professional experience in technical writing editing communications or document management
  • 3Experience editing website content and technical or administrative documentation
  • 4Experience developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures SOPs
  • 5Excellent written verbal editing and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • 6Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • 7Experience using content management systems CMS for website updates (preferred)
  • 8Ability to manage multiple projects prioritize deadlines and work independently and collaboratively
  • 9Strong organizational analytical and communication skills
