Overview

You will own the assembly of precision components produced via 3D printing, CNC machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication for a top ecommerce client. Working onsite in Seattle, you join a tight-knit hardware team that values craftsmanship and efficiency. Your role directly impacts the reliability of mission-critical equipment, with potential to convert from contract to permanent after 11+ months. This is a hands-on position where your mechanical aptitude and eye for detail shape every product that ships.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies from engineered drawings and work instructions, ensuring precise fit and alignment. Use hand tools and power tools to complete assemblies to specification.
  • 2Conduct functional tests on assembled units to verify proper operation, documenting results and flagging any deviations from quality standards. Apply root-cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues.
  • 3Collaborate with engineering and production teams to provide feedback on design for manufacturability, suggesting improvements that reduce assembly time and enhance product durability.
  • 4Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and handling materials carefully to prevent damage to sensitive components. Manage inventory of parts and notify supervisors of shortages.
  • 5Operate CNC and 3D printing equipment for small batch production runs, following setup procedures and adjusting machine settings to achieve required tolerances.
  • 6Perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges, recording measurements in digital logs. Ensure all assemblies meet IPC-A-610 standards for workmanship.
  • 7Support the team in meeting production schedules by prioritizing tasks and communicating progress, ensuring on-time delivery of assembled hardware.
  • 8Document assembly processes and update work instructions to reflect best practices, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements8

  • 12+ years of hands-on mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with demonstrated proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics.
  • 2Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication processes, including post-processing and finishing.
  • 3Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
  • 4Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic machining equipment safely and effectively.
  • 5Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods, with a detail-oriented mindset and commitment to quality.
  • 6High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in CAD/CAM or mechanical technology is a plus.
  • 7Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems or similar standards is preferred.
  • 8Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers and production staff, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
