Lead the Autonomous Behaviors and Agents team at Applied Intuition, tackling the most complex computational challenges in real-time decision-making for defense and automotive. You will own the technical vision and architecture for C++20-based systems, guiding a team of engineers building intelligent agents for multi-agent coordination and mission planning. This role spans heterogeneous platforms across air, space, land, and sea, and requires deep expertise in algorithmic optimization and multi-agent systems. You'll shape the Axion and Acuity product families, enabling human-machine teaming at scale. Join a $15B company trusted by top automakers and the U.S. military.

What You'll Do6

  • 1Drive technical vision and roadmap for the C++20 autonomy platform, directing execution from concept through deployment.
  • 2Lead and mentor a team of engineers, setting engineering standards and raising code quality and algorithmic rigor.
  • 3Design and implement multi-agent optimization algorithms for distributed decision-making and coordination.
  • 4Develop temporal logic frameworks and constraint-satisfaction algorithms for complex planning scenarios.
  • 5Partner with product and customer-facing stakeholders to translate mission needs into technical priorities and delivery commitments.
  • 6Coordinate cross-team integration across Axion and Acuity system families, de-risking dependencies.

Requirements10

  • 1MS or PhD in CS, Robotics, or related field, OR 8+ years of experience developing intelligent agents or planning systems.
  • 28+ years of hands-on experience with C++20, including 2+ years leading engineering teams.
  • 3Proven track record of setting technical direction and delivering complex systems through a team.
  • 4Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of constraint satisfaction, scheduling, and optimization algorithms.
  • 5Deep procedural and object-oriented programming skills with clean code principles and OOP design patterns.
  • 6Experience with Docker and containerized development on Linux (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu).
  • 7Understanding of service-oriented architecture and message broker paradigms, with system-level tradeoff skills.
  • 8Ability to translate mathematical concepts into clear documentation and communicate designs to diverse stakeholders.
  • 9Experience mentoring engineers and conducting design/code reviews to build high-performing team culture.
  • 10Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for a SECRET clearance with SAP eligibility.
