Overview

You will support the Site Administrator at The Academy of Before & Aftercare in providing a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for students. Working with American Leadership Academy-Charlotte campus, you will supervise and interact with children during before and after school hours. You will help with homework, lead activities, and maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere. This part-time role is Monday through Friday from 2:15 PM to 6:00 PM, ideal for those passionate about child development. You will gain hands-on experience in a school setting while making a direct impact on students' daily lives.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Supervise students during before and after school program hours to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • 2Engage students in age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and outdoor play.
  • 3Provide homework support, answering questions and offering guidance to help students stay organized and focused.
  • 4Foster a positive and inclusive environment by promoting respectful behavior and conflict resolution skills.
  • 5Set up and organize classroom or activity areas, and clean and sanitize materials at the end of each session.
  • 6Communicate with parents and guardians about their child's participation, behavior, and any concerns, relaying information to the Site Coordinator as needed.
  • 7Assist in planning and implementing special projects, events, and enrichment activities for students.
  • 8Maintain accurate attendance records and document student progress, behavior incidents, and other relevant information.
  • 9Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance job skills.
  • 10Know and follow safety protocols and emergency procedures, including fire drills and evacuation plans, ensuring students understand and follow safety rules.

Requirements8

  • 1High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2Pass applicable background check
  • 3At least 18 years of age
  • 4CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • 51-2 years of experience working with children in after-school programs, childcare, summer camps, or educational environments
  • 6Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a related field preferred
  • 7Experience assisting teachers with lesson planning, classroom management, or activity implementation a plus
  • 8Relevant valid certifications in early childhood education or related field preferred
