Systems Engineer, Infrastructure & Cloud
Overview
You'll own the operation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure across compute, storage, identity, virtualization, endpoint, cloud, backup, and SaaS platforms. You'll support hybrid environments with Windows Server, Linux, and VMware for a 12-month contract in Los Angeles. This role focuses on reliability and automation, working with Azure and AWS to drive efficiency. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain high availability and security.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments, ensuring patching and configuration consistency.
- 2Automate infrastructure provisioning and monitoring using PowerShell, Ansible, and Terraform within Azure and AWS.
- 3Manage VMware clusters and virtual machines, optimizing resource allocation for performance and cost.
- 4Monitor system health with SolarWinds, Datadog, or similar tools, and respond to alerts to minimize downtime.
- 5Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures using Veeam or Azure Backup, validating restore processes.
- 6Collaborate with network and security teams to enforce policies and harden systems across endpoints and IAM.
- 7Document system configurations and runbooks to improve operational transparency and continuity.
Requirements7
- 13+ years supporting Windows Server and Linux in a production enterprise environment.
- 22+ years managing VMware or Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
- 3Experience with Azure or AWS cloud services, including IAM, networking, and compute.
- 4Proficiency in PowerShell or Bash scripting for automation and task execution.
- 5Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
- 6Familiarity with backup tools like Veeam, Commvault, or native cloud backup.
- 72+ years working with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Datadog.
