Survey Crew Chief, Field Operations & GPS Surveying
Overview
Survey Crew Chief leads field crews on land surveying projects using robotic total stations and GPS. You will manage crew members, operate data collection tools, and support office tasks when needed. The role is outdoors, in various weather, and based in WINDSOR MILL, MD. You will contribute to safety, data quality, and efficient field operations, with potential growth toward crew leadership.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead survey crew operations and ensure safety compliance on site
- 2Coordinate data collection with field coordinators and project managers
- 3Supervise crew members and operate independently as a one person crew when required
- 4Manage daily uploading and downloading of data collectors and maintain survey instruments
- 5Assist the party chief with equipment transport and site setup
- 6Clear vegetation obstructing line of sight and support data collection efforts
- 7Support CAD tasks during inclement weather and learning opportunities in the office
- 8Provide accurate field notes andData management to ensure project timelines
- 9Mentor junior crew members and promote best practices in surveying technologies
- 10Contribute to project backlog and workflow efficiency over time
Requirements10
- 1Minimum of 7 years experience running a crew using robotic total stations and GPS
- 2Proficiency in using Trimble or other survey equipment (GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors)
- 3Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- 4Experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with Microstation is preferred but not required
- 5Willingness to learn and follow directions from the Party Chief
- 6Experience or familiarity with SHA is preferred but not required
- 7This is a fully onsite position based in WINDSOR MILL, MD
- 8Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and lift equipment as needed
- 9Strong collaboration and communication skills for field coordination
- 10Commitment to safety regulations and quality data collection
