Overview
Nexus Engineering Group seeks a Substation Physical Designer to own high-voltage substation projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will evolve from production support toward independent design while delivering detailed layout documentation and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
What You'll Do7
- 1Develop and refine physical layouts elevation and section views grounding conduit routing and equipment placement
- 2Create cable and conduit lists nameplates and client-specific documentation
- 3Assist project leads in producing constructible physical packages using AutoCAD and MicroStation
- 4Apply IEEE ANSI NEC and NESC standards to all design deliverables
- 5Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure complete constructible submissions
- 6Travel to project sites to validate designs and gather field data
- 7Maintain compliance with internal processes and industry best practices
Requirements7
- 1Associate Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical experience
- 22+ years designing substation power delivery systems
- 3Proficiency with AutoCAD MicroStation and substation design software
- 4Strong understanding of IEEE Std 80 grounding photometric analysis and conduit routing
- 5Ability to travel to non-public transportation accessible substation locations
- 6Engineer-in-Training certification with progression toward PE licensure
- 7Experience with SDS Inventor or photometric analysis tools preferred
Salary Insight
$60 - $95k per year
