You will design high-voltage substations from 69kV to 500kV for nationwide projects, owning physical layouts, protection and control systems, and grounding analysis. What You'll Do10
- 1Assist in substation design (69kV-500kV) using AutoCAD and Microstation, covering physical, protection, and grounding work.
- 2Prepare detailed engineering drawings and perform short circuit, load flow, and voltage drop calculations.
- 3Develop one-line, three-line, and wiring diagrams for protection and control schemes.
- 4Integrate structural, civil, and environmental inputs into cohesive substation designs.
- 5Create technical specifications, bills of materials, and construction packages.
- 6Write engineering reports, design narratives, and client deliverables.
- 7Maintain organized project documentation and follow quality control standards.
- 8Participate in project meetings with clients, utilities, and stakeholders.
- 9Coordinate with civil, structural, and environmental teams for unified execution.
- 10Engage in on-the-job training and formal learning to deepen substation expertise.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 2Completed coursework in Power Systems Analysis, Power Systems Protection, Energy Delivery Systems, and Power Labs.
- 3AutoCAD or Microstation experience for substation drafting.
- 4Familiarity with the National Electrical Code and National Electrical Safety Code.
- 5Knowledge of construction practices and constructability concepts.
- 6Experience with proposal writing and project estimating.
- 7Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes.
- 8EIT Certification or a master's degree in engineering (plus).
- 93D modeling skills in Revit, Civil 3D, or Inventor (plus).
