Substation Design Technician Raleigh NC
Overview
We seek a Substation Designer to lead CADD/BIM support for power delivery projects. You will develop design packages produce construction-ready drawings perform calculations coordinate multidisciplinary teams and participate in site visits. This role offers ownership and growth opportunities in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do7
- 1Develop detailed substation physical design packages including general arrangement drawings equipment layouts and elevations grounding and lightning protection plans conduit cable tray and raceway layouts and bills of materials
- 2Produce construction-ready drawing packages for high-voltage substations
- 3Perform design calculations such as ground grid design conductor and bus sizing cable sizing and routing and AC/DC auxiliary system sizing
- 4Assist in reviewing calculations for accuracy and compliance
- 5Coordinate with Protection & Control engineers civil and structural teams designers and drafters to integrate multidisciplinary inputs
- 6Participate in site visits to collect design data and verify existing construction and commissioning
- 7Work with contractors and clients to resolve design issues in the field
Requirements5
- 1Proficiency in AutoCAD MicroStation or Bentley Substation
- 21+ years developing substation CADD layouts from engineering designs
- 3Experience with substation voltages ranging from 12 kV through 230/345 kV
- 4Knowledge of industry codes including IEEE NESC and NEC
- 5Associate or technical school degree or AutoCAD or MicroStation certification
