Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator, Military & Suicide Prevention
Overview
You will own substance abuse and suicide prevention training and case management for a State Army National Guard, directly supporting unit readiness. Reporting to the Risk Reduction Coordinator, you will coordinate SAP and SP training, manage Soldier cases from referral to final disposition, and input data into DAMIS and CIMS. Your work reduces risk and builds resilience for thousands of Guard members. You will serve on key councils like CR2C and ADIC, connecting units with community providers. This role combines training, casework, and data tracking with meaningful impact on military readiness.
What You'll Do9
- 1Establish and maintain positive relationships with State POCs to coordinate prevention efforts.
- 2Coordinate and conduct SAP Training for ARNG units meeting AR 600-85 and AR 350-53 requirements.
- 3Deliver Suicide Prevention and Bystander Training for leaders and units per AR 600-92, DA-PAM 600-24, and ALARACT 057-2014.
- 4Coordinate, facilitate, and ship the Unit Risk Inventory; assist units in reporting outcomes for the Risk Mitigation Plan.
- 5Input all prevention training into DAMIS and internal tracking systems; enter critical incidents into CIMS within 48 hours.
- 6Manage substance abuse referred Soldier cases from referral to final disposition, coordinating with unit commanders and tracking progress.
- 7Serve on the Commander's Readiness and Resiliency Council and the Adjutant General's Alcohol and Drug Intervention Council.
- 8Keep the state resource catalog current and maintain relationships with community-based providers.
- 9Provide weekly and monthly reports to the RRC and assist with Interim Progress Reviews.
Requirements6
- 1Bachelor's Degree in a Social Science or related field.
- 23-5 years of practical experience in Substance Abuse Prevention, Suicide Prevention, or Resiliency.
- 3Strong instruction and briefing skills with various audiences.
- 4Ability to work variable schedule including weekends for unit training.
- 5Experience working with military populations (preferred).
- 6Willingness to travel in-state as required.
Salary Insight
$46 - $48k per year
