Student Entry Specialist - Front Office Support
Overview
You will own front office operations for the Student Success Center at Renton Technical College, serving 10,000+ students and visitors annually. You will schedule advising appointments, answer phones, respond to emails, and connect students with the right resources. You will join a team of advisors and counselors dedicated to student success. This part-time role averages 16 hours per week and offers flexible scheduling around peak times. You will work closely with ctcLink/PeopleSoft to maintain student records and support advising processes. This is a one-year contract with potential continuation based on budget.
What You'll Do10
- 1Greet students and visitors in person and via virtual platforms, creating a welcoming and positive experience
- 2Schedule student advising appointments using ctcLink/PeopleSoft and manage the advisor calendar
- 3Answer phones and respond to emails, providing accurate information about college services, enrollment, and campus resources
- 4Direct students to appropriate departments and support staff based on their needs
- 5Prepare materials and provide logistical support for Student Success Center events and advising activities
- 6Maintain student records and enter data into Microsoft Office and student information systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- 7Support compliance with FERPA regulations by handling student educational records securely
- 8Assist with reporting and operational processes related to advising and academic standards
- 9Communicate professionally with college employees, departments, and outside agencies
- 10Adapt to changing priorities during peak advising times while managing multiple tasks
Requirements10
- 13+ years of general office or administrative experience, including keyboarding, record keeping, and public interaction
- 2High school graduate or equivalent
- 3Demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service in a high-traffic office or similar environment
- 4Experience using technology platforms such as Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, and student information systems
- 5Familiarity with ctcLink/PeopleSoft is preferred
- 6Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise independent judgment
- 7Proficiency in creating accessible content in print or electronic form, or ability to learn within 6 months of hire
- 8Attention to detail and experience organizing work to meet deadlines
- 9Ability to work effectively as part of a team and lead by example
- 10Ability to speak a language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, Chinese)
