Administrative Assistant I - Academic Support
Overview
You will run the front desk for Morgan State University's Center for Academic Success and Achievement, supporting daily operations for student services. You will manage the reception area, process purchasing and contracts, and assist with the Second Year Experience program. This role works with Microsoft Office and Campus Solutions systems to coordinate academic advisor appointments and tutoring resources. You will be a key point of contact for students, staff, and administrators, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet students, staff, and administrators at the reception area, direct inquiries to appropriate resources, and answer phone calls.
- 2Process requisitions, purchases, and contract initiations, maintaining the Purchasing Card Log and related records.
- 3File and maintain program records and documents, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- 4Manage inventory of equipment and books for the Center, tracking assets.
- 5Assist with Second Year Experience (SYE) processing of fund requests and scholarships, managing documentation.
- 6Coordinate the Tutoring/Resource Center by scheduling sessions, managing resources, and supporting tutors.
- 7Schedule academic advisor appointments and manage the appointment log, updating Microsoft Outlook calendars.
- 8Manage the reception area daily, opening and closing procedures, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma and 2 years of administrative support services work.
- 2Proven customer service skills with phone, email, and in-person communication.
- 3Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for scheduling, records, and correspondence.
- 4Experience with procurement or purchasing processes, including requisition and purchase order management.
- 5Experience maintaining filing systems, both physical and electronic, with attention to detail.
- 6Knowledge of Campus Solutions or similar student information systems (preferred).
- 7Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a high-volume office environment (without adverbs).
- 8Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with diverse populations.
