Structural Engineer, Industrial & Petrochemical Projects
Overview
Design steel and concrete structures for industrial and petrochemical projects at STSI. Use RISA3D and AISC codes to deliver construction packages. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in Salt Lake City or Billings. Conduct field visits to verify design conformance. Grow expertise in seismic design and integrity evaluations. This role offers direct mentorship from senior engineers.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design steel and concrete structures, foundations, and retaining walls using AISC and ACI standards, ensuring code compliance.
- 2Develop calculations and specifications for feasibility studies, permits, and construction packages with RISA3D.
- 3Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on industrial and petrochemical projects, integrating geotechnical data.
- 4Analyze survey data and geotechnical information to inform structural design and project planning.
- 5Perform periodic field visits to monitor construction progress and verify design conformance.
- 6Conduct integrity evaluations of existing industrial structures and equipment supports, using IBC and ASCE 7.
- 7Prepare seismic design calculations for new and existing structures in compliance with ASCE 7.
- 8Support project documentation and permit submissions with accurate structural specifications.
Requirements9
- 13+ years of structural engineering experience with a focus on steel structures.
- 2Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- 3Valid EIT license, with ability to obtain a TWIC card.
- 4Proficiency in RISA3D, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- 5Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI codes.
- 6Experience designing foundations, retaining walls, and seismic systems.
- 7Preferred: background in petrochemical or heavy industrial projects.
- 8Preferred: experience with wood and masonry design, blast-resistant design, or Arctic engineering.
- 9Preferred: skills in vibration control, grading, hydrology, or wastewater treatment.
