Strategic Communications Specialist, Transit Outreach & Brand Management
Overview
Own communications strategy for the Club Ride program in Las Vegas, NV, a regional initiative that reduces traffic congestion and travel emissions. Manage a multi-disciplinary subconsultant team and direct stakeholder engagement across transit, carpooling, and vanpooling. Report to the West Region Strategic Communications Group and collaborate with engineers, planners, and client staff to translate technical details into public-facing content. This role offers a blend of technical writing, digital management, and event leadership within a top-down leadership environment. You will coach junior staff and ensure brand consistency across all program outputs.
What You'll Do9
- 1Own communications plans and execute outreach campaigns for transportation and engineering projects, using WordPress for updates and SharePoint for version control.
- 2Draft e-newsletters, fact sheets, FAQs, and exhibit content, translating complex technical inputs from engineers into clear public messaging.
- 3Write from-scratch technical reports, annual management briefs, and board updates, ensuring accuracy and accessibility in Microsoft Office.
- 4Manage website content on WordPress including page edits, link updates, and minor web development changes.
- 5Develop PowerPoint decks and lead brand cleanup efforts, refreshing visuals and legacy graphics to meet client standards.
- 6Coordinate graphic displays and presentations with designers, ensuring alignment with Club Ride and AECOM brand guidelines.
- 7Plan and facilitate public meetings, workshops, open houses, and focus groups, both in-person and virtual, with precise logistics.
- 8Handle rapid-response communications tasks, tracking facts, coordinating print pickups, and supporting media relations for the client.
- 9Mentor junior staff and exercise sound judgment in all stakeholder interactions, maintaining quality and consistency.
Requirements9
- 14+ years experience in communications for engineering or infrastructure projects with a BA/BS degree.
- 2Experience with light rail or transit projects in the construction phase is preferred.
- 3Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines on complex infrastructure initiatives.
- 4Excellent technical writing skills, creating comprehensive reports and digital content from scratch.
- 5Experience overseeing quality of work from graphic designers and social media content developers.
- 6Proficiency with WordPress and CMS platforms, including minor coding adjustments.
- 7Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Adobe suite.
- 8Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical teams, leadership, and community stakeholders.
- 9Collaborative leader-doer mindset with capacity to work independently in a high-volume production environment.
