Overview

Own the Step Squad Project at Roxbury Prep Charter School, a structured performance program for beginner dancers. What You'll Do8

  • 1Design and lead weekly Step Squad rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:25pm-3:25pm, teaching foundational stepping mechanics and synchronization.
  • 2Build a cohesive routine that students memorize and perform with precision, preparing them for the final High Energy Step Exhibition.
  • 3Develop students' vocal projection and rhythmic accuracy through structured drills and ensemble practice.
  • 4Assess student progress and adjust coaching to meet individual and group needs, ensuring steady improvement.
  • 5Coordinate with school staff and external partners to align the program with school events and activities.
  • 6Model professionalism and a passion for stepping, inspiring students to commit to the craft.
  • 7Participate in occasional after-school events to showcase the Step Squad and build community engagement.

Requirements6

  • 12+ years of experience participating in or leading a Step Squad, with a deep understanding of stepping techniques.
  • 2Proven ability to teach beginner dancers in a structured group setting, emphasizing synchronization and timing.
  • 3Availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:25pm-3:25pm, from September to late May, plus occasional after-school events.
