Overview

You will teach ballet, jazz, tap, and contemporary to students of all ages at Clayton Valley Dance Academy, a beloved studio in Concord, CA, with a Monday and Wednesday afternoon schedule from 3:15pm to 8:30pm. You will plan and deliver structured classes, develop choreography for recitals, and track student progress. The role focuses on pre-dance and younger students, with additional opportunities for choreography and performance. You will join a dedicated team of 1-2 new teachers for the 2026-2027 season, bringing your passion for dance education to a community that values long-term growth.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Plan and deliver engaging dance instruction across styles such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop, or contemporary for Monday and Wednesday afternoon classes.
  • 2Teach students of varying ages and skill levels in a positive, structured class environment, with emphasis on pre-dance and younger students.
  • 3Develop age-appropriate choreography for recitals, showcases, and performances, starting with the August 17 season opener.
  • 4Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support growth during each 5-hour teaching block.
  • 5Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere that aligns with studio policies.
  • 6Communicate effectively with students, parents, and studio staff regarding class schedules, student needs, and studio events.
  • 7Assist with studio events, recitals, and special performances as needed, including setup and coordination.

Requirements6

  • 1Prior experience teaching dance in a studio, school, or recreational setting, with specific experience in pre-dance and young students.
  • 2Proficiency in one or more dance styles: ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, or contemporary.
  • 3Strong classroom management and student engagement skills, especially with children and teens.
  • 4Reliable and punctual with a professional demeanor for a 2-day weekly schedule.
  • 5CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain before the August 17 start date.
  • 6Passion for dance education and student development, with a commitment to the 2026-2027 season.
