Group Leader - PS 224
Overview
The After School Group Leader oversees safety development management organization and planning of integrated educational projects recreation arts crafts and group building activities. This role requires leading a group of participants at 757 Wortman Ave. Brooklyn NY with up to 20 hours weekly non-exempt schedule from September to June. The position involves supervising staff developing curriculum facilitating events and ensuring participant growth.
What You'll Do11
- 1Supervise and manage a group of participants ensuring safety and fostering positive behavior
- 2Design and implement a sequenced curriculum integrating literacy history and arts crafts
- 3Plan culminating events where participants showcase their work and demonstrate learning
- 4Coordinate with parents and guardians to support family engagement
- 5Maintain facility equipment and enforce policies adhering to strength-based trauma informed practices
- 6Lead outreach activities to improve attendance and participation
- 7Collaborate with staff instructors and support assistants to deliver programming
- 8Track participant development and address behavioral concerns with supervisors
- 9Assist with holiday and extended care scheduling
- 10Document attendance and complete required paperwork
- 11Demonstrate effective classroom management and conflict resolution skills
Requirements6
- 1Minimum age 18 with high school diploma or GED and one year related youth leadership experience
- 2Proven ability to build camp culture through chants team building and community initiatives
- 3Talent in arts music crafts or similar creative fields considered a plus
- 4Commitment to trauma-informed youth development approaches
- 5Strong organizational skills for curriculum design and event coordination
- 6Experience working with diverse backgrounds and providing high-quality services
