Staff Development Coordinator RN, Skilled Nursing
Overview
You will own training and compliance for all nursing staff at a 100-bed skilled nursing facility. You will design and deliver orientation, in-service education, and competency assessments to keep RNs, LVNs, and CNAs current on clinical best practices and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will collaborate with nursing leadership to close skill gaps and improve resident care outcomes. What You'll Do8
- 1Assess training needs across all nursing levels by reviewing resident care requirements, regulatory updates, and performance evaluations.
- 2Build a comprehensive training curriculum covering clinical skills, infection control, and safety procedures aligned with facility policies.
- 3Lead orientation for new hires, ensuring proper documentation and competency checks within the first 30 days.
- 4Deliver monthly in-service sessions using simulation exercises and case studies to reinforce best practices.
- 5Run quarterly skills fairs to evaluate and document clinical proficiency for all nursing staff.
- 6Analyze incident reports and quality audits to identify and address training gaps with targeted remediation.
- 7Coordinate with nursing leadership to implement quality improvement initiatives that reduce falls and medication errors.
- 8Ensure all training records comply with CMS and state regulations, and track staff certifications and licenses for expiration.
Requirements8
- 12+ years of nursing experience in skilled nursing, geriatric rehab, sub-acute, or critical care.
- 2Active RN license in Washington state without restrictions.
- 3Current CPR/BLS certification.
- 4Proficiency with electronic medical records (e.g., PointClickCare).
- 5Experience designing and delivering training programs for diverse nursing staff.
- 6Strong communication and leadership skills to mentor and coach staff effectively.
- 7Knowledge of CMS regulations and state-specific nursing facility compliance.
- 82+ years in a nurse educator, clinical instructor, or staff development role.
