Overview

You own nursing care on your shift at a continuing care retirement community, supervising staff and ensuring safe medication administration. You report to the Director of Health Services and lead a team of LPNs and CNAs. You will conduct audits, manage admissions, and respond to family concerns. This role offers a competitive hourly rate plus benefits after 60 days, including medical, dental, 403(b) match, and paid time off.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Read the 24-hour report and communication book, initial and date entries.
  • 2Make visual rounds of the unit, prioritizing sick residents, checking oxygen rates, safety alarms, medication storage, infection control, and room cleanliness.
  • 3Audit the medication room for QA compliance, expired medications, and dated opened vials.
  • 4Review all admissions from the previous day, complete outstanding documents, and notify the Director of Nursing of concerns.
  • 5Investigate resident or family concerns, implement corrective action plans, and follow up with the Director of Nursing or Social Work.
  • 6Oversee implementation of resident care plans and conduct rounds to monitor critical or high-acuity residents.
  • 7Audit all skin assessment sheets for the week, complete missing ones, and provide a written list to the Director of Nursing.
  • 8Audit monthly summary lists and quarterly assessments, leaving lists of omissions for the Director of Nursing.
  • 9Conduct staff education and lead training for new hires, providing feedback and assessing competencies.

Requirements8

  • 1Active RN license in Washington, D.C.
  • 21+ years of nursing experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
  • 3Current CPR certification.
  • 4Experience supervising nursing staff or charge nurse duties.
  • 5Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
  • 6Ability to work full-time, non-exempt, hourly, more than 30 hours per week.
  • 7Knowledge of OSHA and infection control standards.
  • 8Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
