Staff Data Scientist - Finance at Snowflake
Overview
We seek AI-native thinkers to lead Snowflake's driver-based revenue modeling program. This role owns scaling a standardized framework across product categories, defining drivers and attribution rules, and building self-service tools for scenario planning. The position drives impact by connecting business levers to revenue outcomes while fostering ownership and technical excellence.
What You'll Do10
- 1Own and scale a driver-based revenue modeling framework across Snowflake's product categories using Python and SQL
- 2Define driver trees and attribution rules linking customer adoption to revenue outcomes
- 3Develop statistical and machine learning methods to identify leading indicators and causal relationships
- 4Forecast revenue using direct driver-based and probabilistic approaches with monthly and multi-year views
- 5Build self-service scenario tools with interactive dashboards for executives and product leaders
- 6Establish rigorous evaluation standards including backtesting and confidence intervals
- 7Produce and maintain production pipelines with data-quality gates and monitoring systems
- 8Partner with Product Finance and Analytics Engineering to resolve data gaps and validate assumptions
- 9Communicate forecast insights and uncertainties to senior leaders for strategic decision-making
- 10Mentor scientists and set cross-category direction for modeling best practices
Requirements8
- 1Advanced degree in Statistics Mathematics Operations Research Economics Engineering Computer Science or related field
- 25+ years experience building production-grade statistical forecasting or econometric systems
- 3Strong proficiency in Python SQL and large-scale data platforms like Snowflake
- 4Experience with driver-based modeling financial planning and consumption-based forecasting
- 5Ability to define defensible assumptions with limited telemetry and identify data gaps
- 6Track record of producing self-service analytical tools for business stakeholders
- 7Expertise in causal inference panel methods and hierarchical modeling techniques
- 8Proven ownership of high-impact projects influencing executive decisions
