Sr. System Administrator VDI
Overview
You own the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment for a DISA contract at Ft Meade, MD. You lead as the Subject Matter Expert on all VDI issues, drive ticket escalations, and shape technology adoption. You work with Tier III support, evaluate vendor products, and set policies for computing resource allocation. This role stands out because you'll stand up new enclaves and mentor junior staff while ensuring JWICS mission continuity.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead VDI operations, owning uptime and performance for 600+ virtual desktops.
- 2Drive incident resolution for major outages, coordinating with Tier III and vendors.
- 3Architect and deploy new enclaves, integrating VMware and Windows Server.
- 4Set security baselines and apply STIGs across VDI gold images.
- 5Automate desktop provisioning with PowerShell and Ansible.
- 6Monitor capacity and performance, tuning NVIDIA vGPU for graphics-heavy users.
- 7Document runbooks and topology diagrams in ServiceNow.
- 8Coach four junior admins on VDI troubleshooting and VMware best practices.
Requirements7
- 18+ years administering Windows or Linux servers, with Solaris exposure a plus.
- 25+ years hands-on with VMware vSphere and Horizon View in large-scale VDI.
- 3Active Top Secret clearance, eligible for SCI.
- 4Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II cert: Security+ CE or equivalent.
- 5Proven skill in Active Directory, Group Policy, and SCCM.
- 6Experience with NetApp storage and Cisco networking.
- 7Strong written and verbal communication for leadership briefings.
