Sr IT Security Specialist Healthcare Remote Raleigh NC
Overview
Own the security of our EHR environment at scale across enterprise systems and patient data protection. You will collaborate with IT, clinical, and compliance teams to enforce access controls, conduct audits, and implement security policies for HIPAA and HITECH compliance. This role partners with security, governance, and audit teams to continuously improve the EHR security posture. This position offers remote work with occasional on-site meetings in Raleigh, NC.
What You'll Do9
- 1Build and enforce EHR access controls and RBAC policies to ensure appropriate user permissions
- 2Audit EHR security controls and remediation plans to reduce risk within 90 days
- 3Develop and maintain security policies for the EHR environment aligned with HIPAA, HITECH, and regulatory standards
- 4Coordinate with IT, clinical, and compliance teams to deploy security tools such as firewalls and encryption mechanisms
- 5Oversee incident response for EHR related security events and document findings for stakeholders
- 6Lead risk assessments for new EHR modules or integrations and implement mitigation strategies
- 7Collaborate on deployment of security measures in new features and third-party apps
- 8Maintain logs and audit trails for compliance and internal audits
- 9Participate in governance and compliance forums to report on EHR security posture
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 23-5 years of experience in IT security, preferably in healthcare
- 3Experience with HIPAA compliance and healthcare IT security audits
- 4Knowledge of RBAC, identity management, and data encryption in healthcare environments
- 5Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, HCISPP are desirable
