Overview
You will own medical record processing and transcription oversight for Community Health Network, a non-profit health system with more than 200 care sites across Central Indiana. You coordinate daily HIM operations, direct staff activities, and assist the Director with team management. What You'll Do8
- 1Process medical records by entering patient data and managing transcription using transcription equipment and word processing tools.
- 2Oversee daily HIM operations, including medical record keeping, coding, and filing, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- 3Direct staff activities and coordinate workflows, assisting the Director with team scheduling and task assignment.
- 4Maintain 60 wpm typing speed to complete patient data entry and transcription within turnaround times.
- 5Apply knowledge of medical terminology and basic human anatomy to interpret and file clinical documentation.
- 6Monitor record quality, identifying missing documentation and correcting errors in patient charts.
- 7Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve record discrepancies and support audit requests.
- 8Train new HIM technicians on record processing procedures and transcription systems.
Requirements7
- 12+ years in medical record keeping, medical coding, and filing.
- 2Experience with transcription equipment, typewriter, and word processor.
- 3Typing speed of 60 wpm (verified by testing).
- 41+ year supervisory experience preferred.
- 5High school diploma and basic college courses including medical terminology and basic human anatomy and physiology.
- 6Pass Reading Comprehension test.
- 7Ability to work on-site at Heritage Park in Indianapolis, IN.
