Speech Language Pathologist, Acute Care & Inpatient Rehab
Overview
You will own the full Speech-Language Pathology program for UPMC, delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services to adult patients in acute care and inpatient rehab. You will coordinate evaluations, scheduling, and treatment, while maintaining compliance with OSHA, TJC, CMS, and HIPAA. Your work directly shapes patient recovery and community health outcomes. What You'll Do8
- 1Build diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans for adults with communication and swallowing disorders using CCC-SLP standards.
- 2Coordinate patient scheduling and therapy programs to ensure timely, effective care across acute and rehab units.
- 3Document patient progress with accurate notes and reports, meeting CMS and TJC compliance requirements.
- 4Drive program productivity by tracking outcomes and adjusting treatment protocols to exceed facility benchmarks.
- 5Lead in-service training and community education sessions on speech therapy topics for staff and public.
- 6Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and support discharge planning.
- 7Maintain professional credentials, including CPR certification and state Speech Pathologist license, within 30 days.
- 8Adhere to HIPAA regulations and report any ethical or legal concerns through the proper channels.
Requirements8
- 1MS, MEd, or MA in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- 2CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competency) or active pursuit during Clinical Fellowship year.
- 3Valid Speech Pathologist license for the state of practice.
- 4CPR certification based on AHA standards, including hands-on skills assessment.
- 51+ years acute care or inpatient rehab experience, preferred.
- 6Experience working with adult populations, preferred.
- 7Knowledge of OSHA, TJC, CMS, and HIPAA regulatory requirements.
- 8Strong interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
Salary Insight
$67 - $100k per year
