Overview
Lead the design and execution of special effects deliverables for Disney attractions. Report to Senior Manager – Special Effects Designer. This Project Hire provides immediate impact on immersive guest experiences. Responsibilities span concept to turnaround while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do11
- 1Assist project team in scope development from concept through turnaround
- 2Concept design and deliver all required mockups
- 3Prepare documentation establishing FX scope under SPFX Lead guidance
- 4Plan design/production strategy for special effects systems
- 5Interface with project disciplines to meet internal/external requirements
- 6Field install and provide maintenance operations training
- 7Support post-opening performance and troubleshooting
- 8Travel domestically and internationally for up to six weeks at a time
- 9Create effective plans aligned with senior designer objectives
- 10Track progress against plan outlines from senior leadership
- 11Apply entertainment discipline knowledge to optics mechanics and materials processes
Requirements10
- 13+ years in entertainment or theme park special effects experience
- 2Ability to concept and design special effects with sustainability focus
- 3Experience designing, producing, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting theme park effects
- 4Knowledge of installed Disney attractions from technical aesthetic perspective
- 5Understanding of related entertainment disciplines and their application to special effects
- 6Preference for industrial design manufacturing operations background with special effects system design experience
- 7Strong communication skills across all project levels
- 8Demonstrated ability to manage budgets schedule and deliverables
- 9Education: B.A./B.S. preferred but not required
- 10Theatrical training considered advantageous
