Overview

What You'll Do8

  • 1Set up and calibrate polysomnography equipment and apply electrodes per clinic protocols.
  • 2Perform overnight and daytime sleep studies, including CPAP and Bi-level titrations.
  • 3Insert Pes (esophageal pressure) sensors accurately and safely for indicated patients.
  • 4Instruct patients and families on hook-up procedures and the testing process.
  • 5Monitor patients throughout the study, recognizing and eliminating artifacts to maintain data quality.
  • 6Generate comprehensive technologist reports detailing testing procedures and outcomes.
  • 7Administer medications as ordered by physicians, following hospital policy.
  • 8Maintain a flexible schedule that includes day, evening, or night shifts, and respond to patient care needs promptly.

Requirements7

  • 16 months to 1 year of direct experience in polysomnography or related field.
  • 2High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
  • 3Current AHA BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • 4Knowledge of sleep disorders and electronic systems used in sleep labs.
  • 5Competency in all aspects of polysomnographic testing and equipment.
  • 6Ability to apply judgment, solve problems, and build effective working relationships.
  • 7Effective written and verbal communication skills.
