Anesthesia Technician Job Stanford Health Care
Overview
You will own anesthesia equipment readiness and clinical support for surgical cases at Stanford Health Care, a top academic medical center. You will set up and maintain anesthesia machines, monitors, and invasive lines across multiple operating rooms. You will partner with anesthesiologists and nurses during procedures, including fluid management and auto transfusion. This rotating 8-hour shift role offers the stability of a SEIU Union position with full benefits.
What You'll Do10
- 1Set up anesthesia machines, monitors, and invasive lines before each surgical case, verifying proper function.
- 2Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in real time during cases, minimizing downtime for surgical teams.
- 3Maintain and sterilize anesthesia equipment per infection control policies, including aseptic techniques.
- 4Stock anesthesia carts and supply areas, ensuring availability of critical items for upcoming procedures.
- 5Assist anesthesiologists with intra-operative fluid management and volume resuscitation as needed.
- 6Operate auto transfusion equipment during cases, preparing and monitoring the device.
- 7Document patient charges and quality improvement data accurately for each procedure.
- 8Dispose of non-controlled pharmaceuticals safely, following hospital protocols.
- 9Contribute to cost-containment initiatives by identifying supply usage patterns and recommending adjustments.
- 10Support new staff orientation by demonstrating anesthesia technician workflows and equipment handling.
Requirements10
- 1High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 21 year of directly related work experience in anesthesia or perioperative services.
- 3Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- 4Knowledge of operating room procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control policies.
- 5Ability to locate, operate, calibrate, and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- 6Skill in prioritizing tasks during high-stress situations while working independently.
- 7Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments and emergent patient needs.
- 8Effective English communication for clear interaction with surgical teams.
- 9Physical capability to stand for long periods, lift equipment, and move supplies.
- 10Commitment to cultural sensitivity and patient-centered care in a diverse environment.
