Anesthesia Technician I - Mass General Brigham Boston
Overview
You will own anesthesia equipment readiness and supply availability for surgical procedures at Mass General Brigham, a leading not-for-profit hospital in Boston. Operating in a high-stakes environment, you'll ensure every anesthesia cart and machine is fully stocked and operational before and between surgeries. You'll collaborate closely with anesthesia providers to anticipate and retrieve supplies, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain a safe, efficient OR environment. This per diem role offers hands-on experience with advanced monitoring technology and direct impact on patient care.
What You'll Do7
- 1Stock anesthesia carts and verify machines in each OR before the surgical schedule begins and between procedures.
- 2Check and replace anesthesia gas tanks as needed, ensuring proper supply and function.
- 3Retrieve special anesthesia supplies anticipated or requested by the anesthesia provider before and during surgery.
- 4Prepare complex equipment and supplies for hemodynamic monitoring, including pressure transducers and invasive lines.
- 5Set up and verify monitoring equipment, including ECG, pulse oximetry, and capnography, for each case.
- 6Inspect and troubleshoot the anesthesia machine, correcting any issues to ensure readiness.
- 7Perform daily anesthesia equipment inspections, checking suction, electrical outlets, gas connections, and oxygen and nitrous oxide cylinders.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- 3Cer.A.T (Certified Anesthesia Technician) from ASATT preferred
- 4Knowledge of anesthesia equipment, monitors, and supplies used in surgical settings
- 5Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the anesthesia care team
- 6Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to changing circumstances
- 7Basic understanding of medical terminology, pharmacology, and patient monitoring techniques
- 8Proficiency in computerized systems and medical record software
