Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) - Federal Construction
Overview
Bilbro Construction seeks an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to lead safety programs on federal construction projects in Sacramento. The SSHO will enforce EM 385-1-1 standards and ensure compliance across trades. This role offers authority to stop work when unsafe conditions arise.
What You'll Do11
- 1Develop and maintain Accident Prevention Plans in compliance with EM 385-1-1 and federal contract requirements
- 2Prepare and review Activity Hazard Analyses for all definable features of work
- 3Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and hazard assessments
- 4Enforce proper housekeeping PPE compliance and hazard mitigation
- 5Lead daily safety briefings and train field personnel on safety policies
- 6Investigate incidents and conduct root cause analysis
- 7Coordinate safety compliance with superintendents and subcontractors
- 8Maintain safety documentation including inspection logs and training records
- 9Utilize construction management platforms like Procore for safety submissions
- 10Participate in project meetings and compliance audits
- 11Ensure all safety submittals are approved before construction begins
Requirements11
- 1Minimum 10+ years of construction safety experience
- 2Minimum 10+ years serving as SSHO on federal construction projects
- 3Experience with USACE NAVFAC VA federal construction projects
- 4EM 385-1-1 40-Hour Certification
- 5OSHA 30 Construction Certification
- 6Valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 lbs
- 7Background check and drug screening clearance
- 8Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management platforms
- 9Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- 10Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
- 11Experience with federal healthcare or hospital construction projects
