Simulation Engineer, Unity or Unreal Engine
Overview
You will build an FPV drone combat training system for the U.S. military, using Unity or Unreal Engine to create a flight simulator with real physics and hardware integration. Part of the National Readiness Lab in Houston, TX, you'll work with a small team under direct access to the company president and military SMEs. This is a defense product, not a game, and it offers a path to a full-time role.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build an FPV drone flight simulator using Unity or Unreal Engine with tunable flight physics.
- 2Ship mission systems for strike, intercept, payload delivery, scoring, and replay.
- 3Connect real drone controllers and hardware to the simulation for realistic input.
- 4Reconstruct combat environments from reference footage.
- 5Develop a library of drone and threat models.
- 6Optimize the simulator for offline operation in field conditions.
- 7Document your work as you build for defense compliance.
Requirements11
- 1U.S. citizenship required.
- 21+ years experience developing in Unity (C#) or Unreal Engine (C++).
- 3Interest or experience in flight physics, vehicle dynamics, or rigid body simulation.
- 4Ability to build applications that work offline.
- 5Strong documentation skills.
- 6Availability to start within two weeks.
- 7Portfolio or GitHub link required.
- 8Experience with FPV drone flight is a plus.
- 9Experience connecting physical controllers or hardware to a game engine is a plus.
- 10Familiarity with defense simulation or military training systems is a plus.
- 11Interest in reinforcement learning or AI for flight models is a plus.
