Shipping & Receiving Supervisor - UFP Industries
Overview
You will own all outbound and inbound freight operations at a high-volume Tampa facility, controlling schedules, carrier selection, and compliance across DOT regulations. You coordinate with sales and production to move 50+ loads per week, negotiating rates and auditing freight bills. Your decisions directly impact customer delivery windows and plant profitability. This role requires sharp problem-solving in a 24/7 logistics environment, with direct authority over drivers and yard operations.
What You'll Do9
- 1Create daily shipping and receiving schedules for all trucks and drivers, aligning with sales and production forecasts.
- 2Dispatch carriers for outbound loads, selecting the best mode and negotiating transportation rates.
- 3Verify inbound product storage against inventory records, ensuring proper placement and rotation.
- 4Audit all shipping documentation for accuracy against DOT and company standards.
- 5Set delivery and pickup appointments, coordinating loading times with warehouse staff.
- 6Resolve supplier and customer transportation issues, documenting shortages and filing claims.
- 7Review and approve freight bills for payment, matching against negotiated rates.
- 8Manage internal fleet dispatch and driver logs, ensuring hours-of-service compliance.
- 9Build daily reports on shipment status, carrier performance, and freight costs for plant leadership.
Requirements8
- 12+ years supervising shipping or production teams in a manufacturing environment.
- 2Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- 3Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety compliance.
- 4Experience negotiating with common carriers and managing third-party logistics.
- 5Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6Proven ability to coordinate multiple inbound and outbound shipments simultaneously.
- 7Familiarity with warehouse management systems and data entry for shipping logs.
- 8Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, during peak shipping seasons.
